Chocolate variation on a super version of the classic sugar cookie.
1 cup butter (or margarine)
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup confectioners' (powered) sugar
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon salt
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
7 1qt zip close freezer bags
Optional: Aprox. 1/4 cup Candies, nuts, candied ginger, butterscotch chips, etc.
Cream butter and oil together.
Add sugars and cocoa then mix well.
Add eggs and vanilla then mix well.
Fold in remaining dry ingredients, reserving 1 cup of flour, and mix well.
Slowly add remaining flour while mixing until stiff peaks can be formed.
Evenly divide the dough into the 7 zip close freezer bags and form a "log" in the bottom of the bag.
Place in freezer for at least 3 hours.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
Remove a frozen "dough log" from plastic bag. (Hint rip the sides open.)
Slice the log into 13 equal pieces and place on greased (or foil covered) cookie sheet.
Optional: Top each dough slice with a few candies, nuts, candied ginger, butterscotch chips, etc.
Bake for 11 to 13 minutes.
Remove from oven and let cool for at least 5 minutes before removing from cookie sheet.
