Aaloo Gosht (Meat with Potato Curry)

Onions 1 (Sliced thin)
Potatoes 6 Medium(Chopped into Cubes)
Tomatoes 2 (Chopped into cubes)
Coriander/Cilantaro Half a bunch, washed and chopped
Green Chilli(es) 4 (Sliced into thin circles)
Beef Stew 2 lb. (You can also use Mutton if you prefer)
Water 1 1/2 Glass (3 Cups)
Oil 4-8 tbsp
Paprika 2 tsp
Coriander Powder 1/2 Flat tsp
Garam Masala - Powder 1/2 Flat tsp
Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp
Garlic 1 tsp
Garam Masala - Whole See Instructions
Ginger 1 tsp
Salt 2 tsp


1 Wash the meat pieces individually and pressure-cook the meat if you know how to use a pressure cooker otherwise place the meat in a deep pot, add twice as much water, let it cook on low flame until meat becomes tender
2 Drain the water if there is any left and set the meat aside
3 In a different container, heat oil and brown onions
4 Add green chillies and continue cooking
5 Add garam masala whole and mix
6 Add meat and cook until meat turns a dark brown
7 Add tomatoes and continue cooking
8 Add potatoes and continue cooking
9 Add spices and mix
10 Add water, cover, turn heat low and let it cook for 1/2 hr. to 45 min
11 Five minutes before done, add Coriander leaves/ Cilantaro
12 Cover and turn heat off in 5 minutes
13 Serve hot with naan, chappatti or white rice
